The society is promoting the exchange between the Anatomical Institutes in Switzerland both at the level of research and of anatomical education. It provides a platform to exchange experience, ideas and problems related to these issues and has the major goal to promote communication between its members. SSAHE is member of the Life Sciences Switzerland (LS2) network and is participating actively at the LS2 meetings. The annual meeting of SSAHE is organised by one of the Anatomical Institutes in Switzerland. A second important activity of the society is to foster young anatomical investigators and to support and encourage them to adapt a professional career in anatomical research and teaching. This is being pursued by a travel GRANT_program for young investigators and by the scientific awards both to young and advanced investigators awarded by the society. Within the SSAHE, the Swiss Network for Gross Anatomy (SNGA) forms a subgroup of members specialised in the organization of teaching gross anatomy.
